Corporate Development Manager, National Portrait Gallery

Job Summary

This responsibility of this role is to support the core administration and functioning of the Corporate Development department, which secures and manages high-profile and industry-leading cultural partnerships.

Job Description

The Gallery receives 30% of its funding through a government grant and generates the rest itself. Fundraised income, from corporations, individuals and trusts and foundations is a key element of this self-generated revenue.

The Corporate Development team is responsible for securing significant support from companies, for exhibitions, programmes and a number of major projects. The Corporate Development Officer is a vital member of this team and will have the opportunity to support on the growth of the Gallery following its triumphant re-opening in June 2023; and on the servicing of existing sponsors, such as Chanel Culture Fund, Bank of America, Herbert Smith Freehills and Taylor Wessing.

Working in a busy and target-driven environment, the post holder will support the team through a wide range of administrative and organisational tasks, including communications with corporate partners and co-ordinating their requests with internal teams, as well as leading on researching prospective supporters. With strong business acumen and proven experience using CRM systems, the post holder will also track supporter outreach through detail-oriented database administration, and liaise closely with the internal teams on client activation by monitoring the usage of supporter benefits.

Job Requirements

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent), with a proven interest in arts, business and sponsorship/fundraising.
  • Demonstrable administrative experience in a fundraising team, preferably in an arts or heritage organisation, or experience of administering sponsorship, marketing or CSR campaigns within a corporate entity.
  • Experience in managing and maintaining accurate complex data, particularly working with CRM systems (e.g. Tessitura).
  • High level of proficiency working with standard business software including MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience of working in a customer service orientated environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Corporate Development team with the management of Gallery sponsors and partners.
  • Assisting in activating and tracking delivery of contracted benefits for corporate partners and sponsors, especially tickets, event, workshop and tour requests.
  • Working with colleagues across the Gallery to deliver corporate partner priorities, including events, exhibitions/curatorial, learning and visitor services teams.
  • Responding to requests from sponsors/corporate partners for use of Gallery and exhibition images, and providing information on exhibitions, displays, artists and other content requests.
  • Responding to pre-event queries from corporate supporters in a timely and appropriate manner.
