Call to Artists/Makers to Lead Creative Workshops, London Borough of Barking and Dagenham


Calling artists, creative collectives and makers to submit proposals to lead banner and flag-making workshops with local residents in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.   Celebrating the creativity and diversity of the Borough, practitioners are asked to draw on themes related to equality and inclusion with workshops running throughout February and March 2022 as part of our LGBT+ History and Women’s Empowerment months.  The resulting banners and flags will be hung in Barking town centre and public areas in the Borough.

Please include the following with your proposal:

  • Up to 5 images of previous work (pdf/jpg files only, no larger than 2MB each)
  • A short description of your proposed workshops including number of banners/flags created (maximum 500 words)
  • Budget (including materials and artist fees)

We strongly welcome applications from collectives and practitioners who represent the diversity of Barking and Dagenham, and those currently under represented in the arts. We welcome applications from practitioners of Asian, Black and minority ethnic heritage, those with disabilities, chronic and long-term health conditions, those who have faced socio-economic barriers, and those who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Intersex.
