Working with other departments, the Capital Planning and Programme Management (CPPM) department is at the forefront of shaping extensive building and construction projects at the Museum and master-planning activity.
The role’s main purpose is to lead on procurement, contracts, and financial reporting activity for building projects, within the CPPM department at the British Museum. Applying technical knowledge and expertise to support on purchasing and procurement for services and works; managing the process for execution of contracts and amendments with legal advice as required; and periodic projects related financial reporting. Currently a Professional Services Consultancy Framework (Construction) is in place which this role will be expected to support and use.
The Contracts Manager will work with senior stakeholders, the Head of Procurement, and Project and Programme Managers to: i) manage the process for planning and delivering procurement activity across the department for consultant appointments and works contracts; ii) support the development and implementation of procurement strategies and best practice procedures to renew and maintain procurement frameworks and/or approved supplier lists, ensuring value for money is achieved; iii) ensure contracts are awarded, agreed and executed; iv) analyse, track and report on financial spend on all capital expenditure for the department. Over time, the role may develop in line with business need, and the post holder will be expected to carry out other reasonable duties as required.
