We are looking for an Emerging Artist Repetiteur to work at the heart of Scotland's largest National Performing Company.

You will work with singers as directed by the Head of Music in a variety of situations including; one to one coaching sessions, music calls and production calls and any other rehearsals which may be necessary to ensure that the highest possible performance standards are achieved. You will also spend some time throughout the contract being mentored by Senior Staff at Scottish Opera.

You may play keyboard instruments (piano, fortepiano, harpsichord, celesta, organ etc) as a member of The Orchestra of Scottish Opera in opera or concert performances.

The person we are looking for should be a recently graduated repetiteur or a repetiteur at the start of their career, capable of realising operatic vocal scores in an intelligent and musical manner. A working knowledge of the main European languages most frequently encountered in the operatic repertoire (German, Italian and French) is also required with experience in accompanying and coaching singers, playing for opera productions, and following a conductor's beat. Previous Emerging Artist Repetiteurs have also had the opportunity to work as a conductor and to assist and conduct performances depending on experience.

The position is based in Scottish Opera's offices in central Glasgow, but we perform all around Scotland, so some evening work and travel within Scotland will be required.

How to Apply

Applicants should apply in writing to Iona Jack, Music Department, Scottish Opera, 39 Elmbank Crescent, Glasgow G2 4PT or email [email protected] providing an up-to-date CV, a covering letter detailing their suitability for the role and where they saw the vacancy advertised, and should also complete our Equality Monitoring Form.

The provisional starting date will be 1 September 2026, finishing at the end of the 2026/2027 season (end of June 2027). All candidates invited to audition must be able to provide proof of right to work in the UK prior to the audition itself.

Auditions will involve the presentation, both singing and playing, of set operatic excerpts (advised if you are invited to interview), along with some sight-reading, language tests and working with a conductor. You may also be asked to coach a singer.
