Job Description

We are looking to welcome experienced, committed, and enthusiastic Events Officer to our expanding Events and Festivals Team. Be part of a team that delivers an extensive all round event service. Play a key role in delivering our annual series of events and festivals to working alongside commercial and community event organiser to support them to deliver safe and vibrant events across Medway. This role is varied and offers great scope for professional development.

The Events Team sits inside the Culture Service alongside the Arts, Libraries, Theatres and Corn Exchange Teams, as well as working closely with colleagues from other council departments including Regeneration, Youth, Public Health, Heritage, and Tourism. Job Requirements

  • The post holder will work on his/her own initiative, remain calm under pressure and possess the ability to deal with a number of tasks at once.
  • They will possess very good interpersonal skills, the ability to plan ahead, be creative and follow outlined briefs.
  • The ability to deal with elected members as well as members of the public, performers and contractors.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and be flexible in working hours. Required to work some unsociable hours and weekends.
  • Ability to use literacy, numeracy and ICT skills to complete a range of highly complex tasks and assessments, such as writing reports, letters, presentations and undertaking complex assessment of need and calculations.
  • Demonstrable ability to work within recognised procedures which leave some room for initiative, including lone working, previous experience of responding independently to unexpected problems and situations and only referring to a supervisor/manager for unusual or difficult problems.

Job Responsibilities

Be responsible for the planning, development, and production (end to end) for a number of Festivals and Events within Medway Councils event programme. - including programming, contracting of performers, infrastructure- the writing of specs and contracts. Procurement where necessary. Writing of EMP's, Creating site plans, and staffing plans. Writing and delivering event briefings - for the larger events this will be done as a Team, with each of us supporting one another.
