Finance and Payroll Officer, Royal Institution


Salary: £31,300 to £32,500 pa (pending job evaluation)

As part of the small finance team, to provide a high quality of customer service across the Ri, building relationships and helping staff to understand their role in ensuring good financial management, controls and processes.

Based in Albemarle Street, Mayfair with a mix of home and office working, reporting to the Head of Finance, responsibilities include:

  • Maintain bankbooks daily, report on cashflow
  • Process monthly payroll (for approximately 50 staff) ensuring accurate payment to staff and to related agencies 
  • Post credit card transactions onto ledger
  • Raise sales invoices, maintain sales ledger and manage debt collection,
  • Create and submit quarterly VAT returns

Do you have:

  • 2 years’ experience working in Finance 
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office  with advanced Excel 
  • Experience of databases, inputting and extracting information 
  • Good knowledge of financial procedures/principles/controls
  • Experience in working on month end and year end routines, including reconciliations
  • Experience of preparation and running of payroll
  • Understanding of input and output VAT
