We are looking for an experienced and motivated Frames Conservator to join our Paintings, Frames & Workshop Conservation team. This is an exciting new opportunity to be integrated into our Frames conservation team with a leading focus on the international programme. Working across the Collection Care division you will concentrate on assessing, documenting, preparing and treating works of art within Tate’s Collection. You will use innovative solutions to plan the project and solve complex challenges for collection artworks and ensure high standards of preservation.

You will hold a recognised qualification within wood or organics conservation or equivalent and have demonstrable practical experience treating and stabilising a broad range of frames with full consideration of the practical and ethical issues. You will have performed condition surveys, treatment proposals and understand the long-term care issues in your specialist field. Effective communication will be essential, as well as good time management, project planning skills and the ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines.

The role is based at Tate Britain and Tate Stores, with flexibility to travel between all Tate sites, to support Tate’s programme.

Please Note: Portfolio examples will be requested during the Interview. Candidates will be asked to undertake a practical 30 minute test in the interview.
