Description
Project title: Lost Victorian Voices. The role will turn the stories of LGBTQ+ people discovered by volunteers into ambitious creative outputs to be delivered across Buckinghamshire and beyond. The project is funded by the National Heritage Lottery Fund.
£10,725 fixed fee inclusive of expenses. Outputs to be delivered during February 2025. The budget to deliver the various elements of the project is £18,960 (in addition to the £10,725).
- Deliver the project's outputs, as envisioned by Buckinghamshire Archives, on time and within budget.
- Manage the project's volunteers.
- Manage the promotion of the project through social media and the project website.
- Arrange a physical exhibition showcasing the stories and arrange for this to tour the county, visiting 'traditional' venues.
- Liaise with partners including Unbound Theatre, a local production company, to create the theatrical performances.
- Arrange for the performances at the Queen's Park Art Centre and Wycombe Museum.
- To liaise with a chosen artist to oversee the creation of a graphic novel based on stories found within the collection.
- To make that graphic novel accessible to the public via the appropriate outlets.
- Proactively manage workload and adapt according to project need.
- Coordinating with project evaluators.
Project Outputs
- The Services' catalogues are updated by the Archive's Collections Team to include findings from the project, making LGBTQ+ history more accessible.
- A website is created to ensure the projects' legacy.
- The findings of the project are turned into a dramatic performance in collaboration with a local production company and theatre, which is recorded for future use and long-term preservation.
- The project's findings are turned into a graphic novel, by an artist commissioned by Buckinghamshire Archives Service, which is shared widely and will be freely available through the project website and other appropriate places.
- An exhibition of the project's findings tours various venues in the county to promote the project's findings and aims.
- Volunteers are trained in how to create podcasts, and these are used to celebrate the stories that are uncovered.
- A freely downloadable publication of all the projects discoveries is available through the website.
