Technical Art Studio Assistant to support the daily operations of our art studio. In this role, you will assist with maintaining the studio space, preparing art materials, and supporting the technical aspects of artwork production.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Technical Art Studio Assistant to join our creative team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the studio's operational needs, preparing art materials, assisting with technical tasks, and helping with artwork installation, such as panel preparation and hanging. This role is vital in supporting the artistic process by ensuring the studio runs smoothly and efficiently.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

Experience: Previous experience working in an art studio or technical setting preferred, but not required. Familiarity with a range of art mediums and materials.

Technical Skills: Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and studio equipment. Familiarity with panel preparation, stretching canvases, and framing artwork is a plus.

Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail, ensuring high-quality work and accuracy in tasks.

Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and move heavy art materials and pieces; physically capable of standing and working for extended periods.

Organizational Skills: Highly organized, able to maintain clean and efficient workspaces, and track supplies and materials.

Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills, able to follow instructions, and maintain professional interactions with colleagues and clients.

Job Responsibilities

Studio Maintenance

Organise, clean, and maintain the studio.

Ensure tools, equipment, and workstations are well-stocked and in working order.

Manage inventory of art supplies and order materials as needed.

Art Material Preparation

Prepare and organise art materials, including but not limited to canvases, panels, paints, brushes, and other media as directed.

Assist with mixing paints, varnishes, and mediums following specific instructions from the artists.

Prepare custom panels or canvases as required for upcoming projects.

Artwork Assistance

Help with handling and moving artwork around the studio.

Assist in the preparation and mounting of panels, canvases, and frames.

Support the artist with technical tasks.

Installation and Hanging

Assist in installing and hanging completed artwork in galleries, exhibitions, or studio display spaces.

Ensure artworks are properly aligned, secured, and presented. Safely pack and transport artwork.

Assist Studio Manager with tasks
