Kenny Wax Productions is looking for a Head of Wardrobe for the UK tour of The Shark is Broken. We are looking for applicants with previous wardrobe experience in a similar role on tour/the West End. Contract: Fixed Term 18 weeks Show schedule: performances 6 days per week typically Monday - Saturday Holiday: 32 days per year pro rata Start Date: 13th January 2025 Location: Various UK Touring venues Rehearsals: London, 30th December 2024 - 18th January 2025 Tech/Opening Venue: Oxford, 20th January - 25th January 2025 Job Description: To maintain the costumes and accessories to the standard required by the Designer & Costume Supervisor; To devise all dressing show plots for the production and teach local dressers as required; To take a show dressing plot, undertaking costume changes during the performance as required; To clean and launder all costumes in the manner and frequency required to maintain the appearance of the costumes, including coordinating dry cleaning; To buy replacement costumes as required and to fit and alter costumes as needed during the run of the production including Understudies; To be responsible for and carry out all running repairs on costumes as required; To follow up on all notes made by the team regarding costumes in their care, checking for accuracy and to maintain the master costume bible; To be responsible for the Wardrobe dept COSHH record / Health & Safety and good housekeeping procedures; To ensure that each touring venue's running wardrobe room and all costumes in dressing rooms are kept in a clean and tidy manner; To maintain the costumes and accessories to the standard required by the Designer & Costume Supervisor; To account for and support the administration of petty cash for Wardrobe Department spends, obtaining where possible VAT invoices for any hires and purchases made through petty cash; Any other reasonable duty that would normally fall within the remit of a Head of Wardrobe based on industry norms and practice. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written with excellent attention to detail; A proactive and flexible attitude; Previous experience of UK Touring; Previous experience of leading a team; Excellent sewing skills and working knowledge of theatre costume; Respectful approach and consideration of others, bearing in mind the potentially sensitive nature of wardrobe/costume work; Extensive experience of wardrobe maintenance and dressing actors on productions of similar scale and type; The ability to work well with actors and creative team; The ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritise; Awareness of current health & safety legislation; Experience with performer flying is desirable; Strong working knowledge of UK Theatre & SOLT Equity and BECTU agreements. The Wardrobe department will consist only of the Head of Wardrobe, so the ideal candidate will be able to work independently and conscientiously.
