Toolbox Drama is a performing arts provision based in York and Selby, we mainly work with adults with learning disabilities, however this specific project is also open to children and families. We run performing arts classes, participant led performance opportunities and Sensory Theatre events. In 2025, Toolbox Drama will be presenting four 'Immersive Gardens' with Junction Theatre, Goole. These indoor experiences provide audiences with sensory exploration, accessible technologies and a gentle narrative over a one hour experience. As part of this indoor garden, our audience will also meet two roaming walkabout characters. These characters are likely to be visual representations of potted plants and flowers. The characters will be responsive to the immersive environment, performing simple movement sequences to navigate the space in a playful, curious and sociable manner. We are seeking a Movement Director to assist us in discovering how these characters move and interact with each other. Some basic choreography to music (provided) will be required, however we are particularly interested in improvised movement, audience interaction and physical storytelling. Fee: £400.00 + £0.45 per mile travel outside of York. 1 hour project meeting, 7.5 hours rehearsal time We are looking for a Movement Director with experience of developing similar walkabout pieces.
