Online Exhibitions Assistant, Unit London

Description

Since its inception in 2013, Unit London has been firmly committed to the identification and championing of unique and distinctive artistic talent from across the globe.

As an artist-led space, the DNA of the company is fundamentally creative. We have an ideas-driven culture and we pride ourselves on being able to think outside the box and go against the grain of tradition. We know that great ideas often come from unexpected places, so all members of the team are encouraged to think about and contribute to the wider vision. We are a collaborative team and treat each other with humility and respect. Everyone at Unit London is ambitious, driven and passionate about our mission: realising a future society that understands contemporary art, and celebrates the talents and contributions of artists from all backgrounds and practices.

The Online Exhibitions Assistant works within the Exhibitions team - programming and producing written material for the website, press releases, promotional and marketing material for the online exhibitions programme - Platform. The Platform programme was launched in October 2020 and has since become a pivotal aspect of the gallery’s exhibitions programme. Running for 2 weeks each, Platform exhibitions are concise presentations of the artists’ work, often focusing on specific socio-political themes. In line with the socio-political aspect, 10% of proceeds from each exhibition go towards a charity of the artists’ choice.

The ideal candidate will make a conscious effort to keep up to date with current affairs within the art industry to ensure all written content being produced is relevant. Taking initiative and putting forward new ideas to help position the online exhibitions is championed and encouraged. Whilst the role is predominantly focused on Platform, there is overlap with the wider exhibitions schedule as well. Ultimately, we are looking for an individual who is keen to grow and develop within the company and eventually take on a more managerial role of Platform.
