The National Railway Museum (NRM) in York, as part of SMG, is home to iconic locomotives and beautiful collections where our visitors can explore the past, present and future of the railways.
As Operations Manager for National Railway Museum (NRM), you will be responsible for the delivery of an outstanding visitor experience, with a strong focus on exemplary customer service and commercial targets.
About the role
You will be responsible for the safe and efficient running of the museum’s front of house operation, including incident management. As a great people manager, you will develop your team to deliver to the highest standards and you will work with senior museum colleagues and outsourced providers to improve service across the site.
You will lead short- and medium-term operational plans for our exciting plans, Vision 2025 and York Central, working with colleagues to create and implement plans that keep our visitors safe and maintain an excellent visitor experience whilst enabling critical building projects to proceed.
As Operations Manager, you will be an experienced people-manager, with the ability to lead, develop, motivate and engage your team. You will be a strong communicator, with a a commercial approach and an understanding of how to lead and motivate a team to achieve and exceed targets. Taking a calm and considered approach, you will ensure that high standards and visitor safety and enjoyment is at the forefront of all decision-making.
Above all, you will have a genuine desire to provide exceptional customer service.
