The role

We are recruiting an Outreach and Development Manager to work on the East Lodge Restoration Project in Nunhead Cemetery. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Leisure Directorate's Policy and Programmes team.

The Leisure Directorate sits within the Department of Environment, Sustainability & Leisure (ES&L), which is responsible for the management of parks and open spaces, culture and libraries; trees, cemeteries, youth and play, highways, roads, parking, refuse collection, street cleansing, trading standards and consumer safety.

The Outreach and Development Manager role will be responsible for the management, co-ordination and delivery of an Activity Plan and Volunteering Strategy for the Nunhead Cemetery East Lodge 'From Ruin to Revival' to project. The post holder will support heritage, ecology, and volunteering activities in order to establish the East Lodge as a community hub and wider use of the cemetery. The role will involve close liaison with both the Friends of Nunhead Cemetery (FONC) and Southwark Council, as well as key delivery partners from public, voluntary and community organisations.

The restoration of the East Lodge is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

You will have a keen interest in parks, play and leisure provision, and be able to champion the broad benefits that provide access to good quality open spaces and recreational facility offers to local communities. You are a great communicator who is able to build long term relationships in order to facilitate change.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, a passion for working with stakeholders and the ability to work with a wide range of people from differing backgrounds. You have the ability to encourage and facilitate greater participation from local individuals and community groups in the workings of a multi-faceted project.

You may have a background in community engagement working in the public sector or private sector, have worked with voluntary and community organisations, an NGO, Charity or have significant volunteering experience in community engagement.

You are a team player with great organisational skills who thrives on building partnerships to reach a common goal.

Being able to produce reports and presentations with the ability to deliver these to a wide range of audiences.

This post requires a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service DBS check at Enhanced level.
