Job Title: Practice Administrator

Reporting to: Practice Manager

Location: Manchester / remotely

Contract: Full Time (permanent)

Salary: £21,000 - £24,000 (dependant on experience)

Benefits: - 20 days holiday in addition to statutory holidays, increasing to 22 days after one year and subsequently 25 days after a further three years

The Practice Administrator will work remotely and from the Manchester office to provide administrative support across the firm. You will be line managed by the Practice Manager and work closely with the Deputy Practice Manager, HR & Admin Manager and Finance Manager to support internal administrative functions.

Counterculture Partnership LLP (Counterculture) is a business consultancy and independent law firm working with third sector, cultural, creative people and organisations. Our work ranges from strategic planning to funding, financial and project management, governance and advocacy, operations, training, IT, HR and legal services. Our approach is built on our experience within the cultural and charity sectors, with clients including Tate, the Institute of Contemporary Arts and London International Festival of Theatre in the arts industry as well as Liverpool Guild of Students, and the Helena Kennedy Foundation in the wider charity sector.


We are a rapidly growing organisation with offices in London, Manchester and Sussex. The company is made up of thirty-seven partners supported by a Practice Manager, Finance Manager, HR & Admin Manager and Events & Business Development Manager as well as a number of consulting staff and expert associates who support us and deliver client projects. Our partners each have an area of specialist knowledge - examples include charity finance, legal, strategic and business planning, arts policy and project management.

Job Requirements

Essential

  • 1-3 years' experience of office administration or a relevant administration experience;
  • A competence with numbers and understanding of financial terms;
  • Excellent IT skills and strong attention to detail;
  • The ability to work calmly and accurately under pressure and to tight deadlines;
  • Reliable and adaptable, with an ability and willingness to work independently;
  • Exemplary communication skills, both written and verbal, with clients and colleagues.

Desirable

  • Experience of writing reports, and to a high standard;
  • Experience with online marketing and social media;
  • Experience within the legal, arts and charity sectors;
  • Some knowledge of accounting - familiarity with numbers and spreadsheets;
  • Confidence, drive, ambition, and a can-do attitude;
  • An interest in the legal, arts and cultural sector.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Supporting client administrative processes, managing each stage of opening and closing matters for all partners including the legal team and maintaining files on our client administration software (Clio) all whilst complying to SRA regulations;
  • Ensuring Anti-Money Laundering checks are carried out as appropriate, as well as any other client engagement tasks;
  • Supporting the Finance Manager; billing queries, recording payments on to Clio;
  • Assisting with the coordination of internal meetings, including circulating documents and agendas;
  • Providing admin assistance with client proposals and tenders as required;
  • Ensure information on the company website remains up to date and new information is uploaded;
  • Ad hoc assistance on formatting and editing documents and administration as required by the Partners;
  • Updating all letterhead and invoice templates whenever a new Partner joins or details are updated;
  • Answering the phone and forwarding messages;
  • Ad-hoc duties.
