Description
A broad role encompassing production, stage management and technician duties such as lighting and sound, as well as managing and editing AV footage for artistic, academic and commercial performances.
This role would suit someone with experience in the production process, from inception to staging, considering the technical practicalities and working closely with key staff to maintain artistic excellence. Excellent organisational, project management and communication skills are paramount, combined with extensive experience in technical aspects. A good all-rounder who will be happy to assist with filming and editing all in-house productions and to work across artistic, academic and outreach areas, gaining diverse experience is required. Outside of peak performance times, you will be content with managing the AV media archive, working with Communications staff to produce media content for our website and supporting student's auditions video footage.
The post holder is expected to have skills in both Lighting and Sound appropriate to the School's needs, with the additional capability to support other venues.
CONTRACT TERMS
Salary: c£37,000 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week, with occasional weekend and evening work compensated by TOIL
Location: Covent Garden and Richmond Park

- A proven track record in technical theatre with a producing organisation or venue
- A thorough understanding of the production process for live performances
- A qualification and strong experience in stage management, technical theatre or similar
- Good technical skills with a thorough understanding of current equipment and systems across lighting and sound
- Knowledge of audio networking and experience working with live music
- Experience with lighting technology
- Confident user of ETC/Grand MA Lighting Desks/Software & Digital Sound Desks (Allen & Heath)
- Ability to maintain high production standards and timely delivery of duties
- Good working knowledge of software such as Adobe Audition, Adobe Premiere, Q-lab
- Highly organised, able to work collaboratively and bring people together in the production process
- Flexible attitude to working hours and patterns (including evenings and weekends) and able to manage conflicting priorities

TECHNICAL DUTIES
- Under the line management of the Head of Production, ensure that the School performances and events have the necessary technical support to enable the creative teams to realise the School's artistic aims
- Participate fully in providing all lighting and sound requirements for designers, creative teams, and in-house events
- Set up and stage manage performance/event spaces
- Set up and operate lighting, sound, and multimedia equipment
- Willingness and sufficient technical ability to work across disciplines
- Provide technical and creative support to all users of the School's theatre and performance spaces
- Record and archive all in-house productions
- Hire/purchase specialist equipment and technical support where required
- Support with production coordination and administration, as required
- Attend production meetings and rehearsals as required.
