This new role supports the delivery of Devonshire Collective's artistic and community programme and manages the day-to-day operations of the company. Reporting to the Director, you will manage the maintenance and infrastructure of the company, including facilities, insurance, utilities, and suppliers. You will work collaboratively with the Curator to coordinate and deliver a high-quality and relevant artistic programme, contributing both creatively and administratively. You will manage a pool of freelance weekend Gallery Assistants, and will act as Environmental Lead for the company, supporting efforts to reduce carbon emissions.

Job Requirements

  • Experience of organising exhibitions and/or events from planning to delivery, either in an independent or institutional context.
  • Strong administrative skills, and ability to manage stakeholder relationships, schedules and budgets.
  • Track record of working on numerous projects at the same time with evidenced attention to detail.
  • Experience of devising and delivering online communications including website and social media.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of contemporary art.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and accuracy in editing and proof reading.
  • A commitment to environmental responsibility and access, equity and inclusion.
  • Working knowledge of IT suites including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the Curator in the delivery of exhibitions and projects.
  • Collate exhibition and programme related environmental data, ensuring it is relayed to the Director in a timely manner.
  • Design and deliver a social media engagement plan for exhibitions
  • Contribute creatively and collaboratively to the development of Devonshire Collective's artistic and community programme, taking a lead on identified areas of work.
  • Monitor audience figures and demographics using identified data tools such as Illuminate.
  • Manage a pool of freelance Gallery Assistants, coordinating the gallery's weekend rota, and ensuring GAs are well-informed about DC's exhibitions and wider programme.
  • Lead on the smooth day to day running of DC's gallery, office and Learning Studio.
  • Act as primary contact for all utilities and service providers.
  • Act as primary contact for studio and hire enquiries, managing Hire Agreements.
