Six month fixed-term contract to support the Music for Everyone team in the co-ordination of music events, courses and regularly rehearsing groups, taking specific responsibility for organising some elements of the 40th Anniversary programme.

Thanks to support from Arts Council England's National Lottery Project Grants, Music for Everyone (MfE) is organising a 40th Anniversary season of activities to celebrate inclusion in music. In particular, we are celebrating and raising awareness of female leadership and achievements in classical music and widening our programme to include new music genre. The Project Co-ordinator role will deliver specific tasks relating to the season.

This role involves supporting the delivery of key events, helping with evaluation and collating feedback for the final Arts Council report, assisting with the organisation of an exhibition, as part of the celebration event in July and helping to establish three new weekly sessions.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Understanding of the benefits of music making and singing in a community setting
  • Experience of working in an organisation where music has been a key focus
  • Experience of co-ordinating projects, workshops or events (in the arts or voluntary sector)
  • Experience of contracting musicians or other artists
  • Strong co-ordinating skills
  • Good administrative skills
  • Able to use IT / Word / Excel / Microsoft office tools (or willingness to be trained)
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Desirable

  • Ability to read music
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent
  • Experience of working with charities or community groups in an arts capacity
  • Qualifications in project management in relation to music co-ordination
  • Some experience in organising or curating exhibitions

Job Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Music for Everyone team to deliver set targets as outlined in the Arts Council application for the 40th anniversary season
  • Attending meetings and taking minutes for the 40th task force
  • Working with a smaller group to help organise an exhibition exploring MfE over the past four decades, arrange for large images to be printed and source exhibition stands, monitors, etc.
  • Supporting the team at large events such as the 40th anniversary celebration weekend at the Albert Hall on 1st and 2nd July
  • Helping to establish three new weekly sessions (steel pan, drumming and Open Voices), including marketing and promotion in liaison with the marketing officer
  • Arranging end of term performance opportunities for the three new groups, including liaising with venues and session leaders, sourcing music and props if needed, in liaison with the General Manager, Adult Music and Youth Music Co-ordinators
  • Organising a fundraising campaign "40 things for 40 years", create sponsorship forms
