Job Summary

PMLL is recruiting two part-time Schools Outreach Officers (9 hours per week) to support a national data-collection trial for the Schools Printed Music Licence (SPML) during the 2025/26 academic year. These term-time roles are available in Scotland & Northern Ireland and Wales (£180 per 6 hr day).

Job Description

You will liaise directly with schools to gather information on their use of printed music under the SPML, support staff in understanding the licence, demonstrate the online reporting portal, and maintain accurate records. The role involves arranging and conducting school visits (both in-person and online), meeting termly visit and data collection targets, and contributing to evaluation at the end of the trial.

Job Requirements

These peripatetic roles require strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, good IT capability, and access to transport. Teaching or education experience, knowledge of local curricula, and familiarity with music licensing are desirable. Welsh language skills are an advantage for the Wales post.

Job Responsibilities

  • Arrange and manage a full schedule of school visits for 2025/26, meeting in person or online with staff responsible for music and printed music resources.
  • Discuss the SPML in detail, gathering data on works copied or arranged, identifying information, numbers of copies and frequency.
  • Demonstrate how to submit reporting data via the PMLL portal and upload information collected during visits.
  • Explain the SPML's benefits and operation, addressing any questions.
  • Keep accurate records of each visit, including staff names, roles and contacts.
  • Maintain positive relationships with schools, offering support as needed.
  • Attend team meetings, represent PMLL at teacher conferences, share findings and contribute to year-end evaluation.
