LSO Discovery is seeking a motivated arts producer with experience in learning and participation to lead on the LSO’s orchestral concerts for young people and communities, and to focus on the development of the engagement of a national schools community.

Job Description

LSO Discovery is seeking a motivated arts producer with experience in learning and participation to lead on the LSO's orchestral concerts for young people and communities, and to focus on the development of the engagement of a national school's community. The role will involve supporting the development of the LSO's digital learning resources, as well as overseeing the Symphonic Gospel project alongside other vocal activities.

Job Requirements

  • At least three years of relevant experience in an arts organisation
  • Knowledge of classical and orchestral music
  • A commitment to and knowledge of music education in the UK
  • Experience of project-managing music-education projects and large-scale concerts, including concerts with orchestras or choirs
  • Experience implementing project evaluation tools.
  • Experience and interest in delivering creative work with schools and communities.
  • Knowledge of and interest in choral and vocal music
  • Ability to read music and mark scores is desirable.
  • Ability to successfully communicate with and work with a wide number of artists, participants, partners.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload.
  • Excellent computer skills, and familiarity with Office
  • Experience of working with young people and teachers
  • Experience in Safeguarding and working in the interests of the safety and wellbeing of young and/or vulnerable people

Job Responsibilities

Programme development

  • Develop the annual programme of LSO Family concerts, Key stage concerts, as well as associated INSET days for teachers.
  • Development of the ongoing LSO Symphonic Gospel initiative, engaging a local community of singers in the LSO's annual Symphonic Gospel concert and engaging with existing and potential Gospel partners
  • Development of Digital learning resources for young people and teachers, ensuring that the LSO's offer for remote and online learning continues to be responsive to current needs.
  • Working with local and national partners to increase LSO engagement with schools and teachers.
  • Working with and maintaining good relationships with LSO musicians, animateurs, presenters as well as project partners involved in the implementation of projects
  • Together with the Head of LSO Discovery, respond to strategic developments in Discovery work on a local and national scale for schools and vocal work.
