Barbican Immersive is looking for a Senior Producer to work on its new portfolio Immersive Arts programme. This programme will commission and support a new wave of artists to make and share extraordinary immersive work.

Barbican Immersive is a world-leading creator of transformative immersive experiences that reframe our audience's understanding and perception of our rapidly changing world, exploring some of the most challenging and inspirational subjects in new and innovative digital ways.


The Senior Producer will be responsible for of developing, coordinating, administering, and producing new Immersive experiences under the direction of the Head of Creative Programming Immersive (HCPI) programme.

The exhibitions and experiences will be designed to enrich the centre and our international programme; increasing its reach to develop younger, newer, diverse arts-going audiences, under the direction of the HCPI.

The post holder will collaborate with partnering organisations, collaborators, sponsors, and creatives and present work at conferences and festivals to secure further contracts and projects and develop significant partnerships.

They will ensure that the Barbican Immersive programme Centre includes intentional, imaginative, critical engaging content that is aligned with the Barbican Centre's strategic framework and the ambitions of Barbican Immersive.

Job Requirements

  • In depth understanding and passion for a wide range of Immersive arts and performance.
  • Significant experience in designing, commissioning and delivering innovative exhibitions and experiences to a high-quality standard.
  • Extensive experience in exhibition management with a proven track record of delivering large-scale multi-disciplinary arts across art forms.
  • Significant experience working in a high-pressure environment, managing multiple projects to tight deadlines with direct accountability.
  • A track record of stakeholder management through meticulous attention to detail and negotiating and organisational skills.
  • Substantial experience in setting up and managing internal and external partnerships within and across teams.
  • Experience in writing for internal and external marketing and communications purposes, including evaluation and reporting to funders and senior management; project and programme descriptions and plans; programme and event publicity; and press and PR purposes.

Job Responsibilities

  • To plan, develop, manage and deliver Barbican immersive exhibitions and content, ensuring the concept and design plan of exhibitions is coherent with the Barbican Immersive vision and Head of Creative Programme's intent.
  • To propose and carry out, research and advise on new concepts, ideas and projects that Barbican Immersive can develop as part of our programme.
  • To collaborate in devising innovative content opportunities across music, installation, and performing art forms to engage younger and diverse audiences to the Barbican.
  • To facilitate inter-departmental dialogue and communication to generate new forms of cutting-edge content and experiences in the digital and immersive sector.
  • To maintain good relationships with institutions; manage relationships with multiple and complex stakeholders, representing the Head Creative Programme, where appropriate in official events as necessary.
  • To represent Barbican Immersive at festivals, conferences and industry events.
