Antony Gormley Studio is made up of a lively and wide-ranging group of individuals with a common aim of extending the language of sculpture and making it available to a wider world. Our Studio Assistants are core members of the team who fabricate and evolve the studio's work. They work closely with our Senior Assistants, Antony, and the wider studio to make sculptures in a variety of challenging materials, from steel and iron to wood and clay. Our team is constantly looking for new ways of approaching the challenges that the work poses, whether they be of scale, form, material or context and we are seeking an energetic and talented fabricator to join and help us in our London studio. The Studio Assistant works closely with the rest of the team to prepare CAD files for the fabrication process, research materials and techniques, participate in the maintenance of equipment and fully support important studio protocols such as work in progress record keeping. They work closely with the Production Manager and report to the Studio Director. Our successful candidate will be an experienced maker, but we are happy to train them if there is a particular skills gap, for example they might be an accomplished carpenter who we can train in metal working techniques. As well as someone who is confident in a workshop environment, we are looking for a can-do attitude, a passion for thinking through making, and a committed team player.
