Job Description

We are seeking a proactive, technically skilled, and dependable Technical Art Studio Assistant to support the smooth operation of a fast-paced contemporary art studio. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is comfortable working with a variety of tools and materials, performing physical tasks, and adapting quickly to the evolving needs of artists and studio projects.

The role includes studio maintenance, preparation of art materials and surfaces (such as sanding, priming, and spraying panels), handling and hanging artworks, as well as packing, shipping, and receiving deliveries. The candidate must be physically capable of lifting and moving heavy artworks and be comfortable working in a material-intensive environment.

The assistant will work closely with the Studio Manager to support a range of operational and logistical needs. They must be able to follow detailed instructions, but also be confident in taking initiative and contributing independently to studio processes. Clear communication with artists, team members, and delivery personnel is essential to ensure work is completed efficiently and professionally. The ability to remain flexible and adaptable to time-critical studio demands is key to success in this position.

This role offers the opportunity to engage with a creative and collaborative team while supporting the production of high-level contemporary artworks.

This position is for two days per week (8 hours per day), with flexibility required based on project demands and deadlines.

Starting pay: £13.50 per hour.
