Job Summary

The Technical Manager oversees and delivers first-class technical support to all Watford Palace Theatre productions, visiting productions and performances.

Job Description

The Technical Team delivers all the technical elements of the Watford Palace Theatre programme - this includes our productions, visiting work, projects and events in the theatre, the studio, our digital stages, on tour and across the youth and community activities of the Take Part department.

The Technical Manager oversees the team delivering the first-class technical support, building strong relationships with freelance and in-house creative teams to deliver their creative visions safely within agreed timescales and budgets.

Job Requirements

Extensive technical management experience across lighting, sound and rigging.

Collaborative skills.

Up to date knowledge of technical procedures and the use of technology

Proven track record in managing and delivering large scale productions

Proficiency in relevant software and technical tools

Extensive Health & Safety background with knowledge of its practical application

Good written and verbal communication skills

Job Responsibilities

Ensure all technical aspects of productions at Watford Palace Theatre are presented to the highest standards.

Liaise with and support visiting companies

Lead, develop and ensure excellent communication between the technical team

Assess and plan the delivery of WPT's technical needs - production, community, fundraising activities, visiting shows, theatre hires

Support, promote and ensure the highest level of Health & Safety across the organisation, including informing and developing policies

Ensure annual inspections and testing of equipment

Coordinate and oversee smooth running of Get Ins and Get Outs

Managing lighting and sound budgets for all WPT productions

Ensure WPT policies are observed in every area of work
