Sweet Patootee Arts is a London-based Arts & Heritage organisation rooted in a passion for storytelling and Britain’s multicultural heritage. We are looking to appoint a freelance part-time Project DIGITAL MARKETER to work with the team on our latest project 'TURNING POINT'.

About the TURNING POINT Project

Neglecting early 20th century British Black history, has prevented important understanding of British heritage, and its legacy today. This project delivers dynamic activities to preserve Black British heritage: benefiting learning, wellbeing, and dementia support nationwide - through unique access to landmark interpretation of this heritage in our touring exhibition.

Sweet Patootee Arts' TURNING POINT video installation (funded by Arts Council England and Bristol Museum & Art Gallery) is the catalyst to engage 6 main audiences:

Schools (13-17)
Young People (17-30)
People living/working with Dementia Mainstream Arts & Heritage General-public

to build lasting engagement with a neglected centenary: the 'Black Lives Matter movement' in the 1920s' British Caribbean - and its impact on British heritage.

Partners/collaborators and voluntary networks from Black communities and diverse organisations in Birmingham and London will devise and deliver public workshop programmes; inspired by TURNING POINT's heritage.

Workshop participants will build archive research skills; inter-generational oral history skills; digital skills, & take part in traditional Caribbean Dance, Folk Singing Workshops and Dementia Support Workshops.

This project is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund

What is the Role?

You will develop and deliver compelling marketing content across social media, website, email and print to drive and grow engagement with the TURNING POINT Project workshops, video installations, screenings, and new TURNING POINT Project web-portal launching later this year.

In collaboration with the Project Manager, Project Coordinator and Project Workshop Digital Facilitators, you will curate and publish digital content resulting from the project workshops on the new TURNING POINT Project web-portal.

We need your help to grow our digital audiences & ensure that as many people as possible access the project's activities and online content.

Job Requirements

Skills, Experience & Abilities

We would expect anyone applying for this role to be able to demonstrate some of the following:

Knowledge & experience of traditional, digital & social media marketing, including all major social media platforms

Excellent written & verbal communication skills, with an ability to craft compelling & engaging content

Excellent organisational, administrative & time management skills with the ability to prioritise & deliver quality work to deadlines

Experience of marketing planning, scheduling & operations management with excellent attention to detail

Experience with managing websites & using content management systems Experience with data analytics software, i.e. Google Analytics
Knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) to enhance online visibility Proficiency in editing images & video clips for social media channels

Design software skills in Canva or InDesign
Excellent IT skills
Ability to deal with problems & develop creative solutions

Job Responsibilities

Build strong social media engagement with our followers & wider audiences around the TURNING POINT project

Create, manage & distribute engaging marketing content to social media channels, new website and e-newsletters

Work with Project Coordinator to develop, create & implement an effective range of marketing material through social media, print & email to recruit participants to TURNING POINT Project Workshops

Work with Project Coordinator to shape social media output & create a range of marketing material for the TURNING POINT project workshops, video installations & screenings to increase audience numbers & engagement with the Project

Liaise with project partners to share digital content & coordinate activity across networks & social channels

Work with Coordinator, Volunteers, Workshop Digital Facilitators & Participants on the ground, to tell their stories on socials & web blogs

Implement SEO strategy to enhance online visibility Collate & analyse social media & web data
