Job Summary

The Charities Advisory Trust is seeking a practical and well-organised Admin Assistant to support our Deputy Director and Office Administrator in the smooth running of our office and charitable initiatives, including Good Gifts and Knit for Peace.

Job Description

This is an interim, hands-on role for someone who enjoys variety and working as part of a small, friendly team. The role is based in our Hampstead office and requires being on site two or three days a week (between Monday and Thursday).

Working Hours & Location
This is a fixed-term contract for 15 hours a week for 9 weeks from Monday 27th October to Wednesday 24th December 2025 over either two or three days a week.
The role is office-based at our Hampstead premises.


Remuneration
Remuneration will be £16 an hour.

Job Requirements

Person Specification

  • Strong computer literacy, including social media and standard office software.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with a confident telephone manner.
  • Patient, adaptable, and willing to learn new systems and applications.
  • Friendly team player who enjoys working in a small, busy environment.
  • Comfortable working with a wide range of people including donors, volunteers, and charity partners.
  • Able to work from our Hampstead office.
  • Physically able to carry boxes and assist with dispatches.

Job Responsibilities

Key responsibilities are to:

  • Support the Office Administrator with day-to-day operations and office activities.
  • Manage Good Gifts orders: printing, packing, posting, and responding to customer enquiries.
  • Contribute to marketing efforts, helping to improve Good Gifts' online and social media presence.
  • Assist in preparing newsletters on Mailchimp for both Good Gifts and Knit for Peace.
  • Coordinate Knit for Peace activities, including liaising with donors and recipients, identifying new potential partners, and arranging dispatches by mail or courier.
  • Help maintain records and organise historic database files.
  • Answer phone and email enquiries from donors, recipients, and partners.
  • Support and coordinate volunteers working with the charity.
  • Assist with practical office tasks such as carrying boxes in and out of the building.
