Description

Job Summary

I am looking for a pottery teacher who can teach taster throwing workshops on weekends.

Job Description

Freelance Pottery Teacher - Throwing Taster Workshops

I'm looking for an experienced pottery teacher to lead throwing taster workshops on Sunday afternoons. Handbuilding experience is also essential, as workshops may occasionally include or require both techniques.

There is also the possibility of teaching evening classes during the week for the right candidate.

This is a great freelance opportunity for a practising ceramicist, particularly if you have your own studio and are looking to complement your existing work. You will be alternating Sundays with another member of the team, allowing the role to be shared.

My studio is a welcoming, well-organised space, and you'll be supported by a friendly and experienced team. If you're interested in spending more time in the studio, I'm also currently looking for a freelance studio assistant - this role is listed separately in the Careers section.

Pay: £25 per hour
Hours: 3 hours
Days: Sunday afternoons 2pm-5pm

Job Requirements

Main Duties

  • Teaching and looking after small groups of students attending throwing and handbuilding workshops

  • Creating a calm, supportive environment where students feel confident to learn and experiment

Job Responsibilities

Skills and Experience

  • At least 1 year of experience teaching pottery, or equivalent hands-on experience

  • Confident working on the wheel and with handbuilding techniques

  • Comfortable leading a class independently and supporting students at different levels

  • A great communicator with a warm, friendly approach

  • Reliable, organised, and respectful of the studio space and community
