Are you passionate about art, heritage and history? Do you have experience in the care of collections and the delivery of exhibitions to high professional standards? Working in a small supportive team, the Art Collections Officer is a highly visible, dynamic and integrated role with connections across and beyond the University community. Their work impacts everyone and involves contact with a broad range of stakeholders, from the Principal and Vice Chancellor to new and prospective students, and the general public. It is a varied role, ideal for an early career heritage professional to deepen their experience in a wide range of museum and gallery practice and support the implementation of the University's developing governance frameworks for the art collection and cultural activity. Royal Holloway's commitment to art and culture is a core element of its new strategy, RH2030s, which identifies culture and creativity as one of the University's key areas of strength. This is an exciting opportunity to join the University's Cultural Services Team and play an important part in delivering our ambitions into the 2030s by caring for our world class art collection, making it accessible to broad audiences and supporting its use in teaching, research and public engagement. At the core of the collection are the legacies of two Victorian collectors: the entrepreneur Thomas Holloway (1800-1883) and the artist Christiana Herringham (1852-1929). Their collections have been enhanced through additional gifts, acquisitions and commissions which span from the 17th century to the present day. The Thomas Holloway collection of Victorian paintings are housed in the university's magnificent Grade 1 listed Picture Gallery. Apply via the University websiteJob Summary
