A multidisciplinary artist based in central London is looking for an experienced and talented part-time Artist Assistant with digital expertise to join their studio team on a part-time basis (3 days).
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Artist Assistant to work closely with the artist in developing and realising both digital and physical works, including sculpture, immersive installations, video and generative AI artworks. The ideal candidate will have expertise in 3D modelling and visualisation, research, art fabrication, and video editing. This role requires a strong knowledge of and interest in contemporary art and technology, a keen attention to detail, and ability to work independently to solve problems and meet project deadlines.
- Postgraduate with 3+ years of practical experience
- Strong proficiency in 3D modelling software, including Rhino and Blender, and creating CAD drawings;
- Experience in fabrication techniques (e.g. 3D printing, casting);
- Proficiency in photographic and video post-production (Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom) and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign);
- Experience with game engines (Unreal or Unity), generative AI environments (Stable Diffusion/Midjourney), development pipelines is beneficial;
- Mac and Google Workspace literate;
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
- Excellent attention to detail and me-management;
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to confidently engage with experts and stakeholders;
- Knowledge of exhibiting, installing and handling of artworks.
- Knowledge of AV equipment and specification is a plus.
- Research and development for artworks with the artist;
- Create 3D models using Rhino, Blender, or other modelling software for artworks, prototypes, and installations;
- Render and visualise projects and create CAD drawings for fabricators and commissioners;
- Work with the artist to refine designs of artworks and installations, ensuring alignment with artistic vision and feasibility;
- Work collaboratively, manage and liaise with fabricators and other technical experts on the physical production of artworks, including sculpture, tapestry, video and photography;
- Edit and produce high-quality video content;
- Edit professional photographs, performing color correction and image retouching;
- Organise and manage timelines, ensuring deadlines are met;
- Maintain clear communication with the artist and studio team, providing progress updates;
- Adapt to changing project needs and problem-solve efficiently.
