This is an opportunity for a committed aspiring creative producer to gain professional experience and offer insight into an ambitious Arts Strategy Programme for a hospital setting - the National Autism Unit - as part of the team at Bethlem Gallery. Total of 30 days @ £150/day.

Freelance Assistant Creative Producer

Location: Bethlem Gallery - Bethlem Royal Hospital, BR3 3BX / Remote working

Hours: 30 x days total, Dec 24 - April 25 (bank of hours system with variable hours. Concentrated work period during Bethlem Gallery Residency, 27th Jan - 8th February 2025. Hours to be discussed at interview stage)

Freelance Salary: £150/day

Job Requirements

Skills and Experience Required

    • Demonstrable experience of working with artists and / or creatively with health and wellbeing.
    • Understanding or lived-experience of Autism and Neurodiversity.
    • Understanding the context of the hospital/health environment and how arts contribute
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Demonstrable administration, scheduling and project management skills
    • Knowledge of visual arts
    • Commitment to the values of Bethlem Gallery (advocating, equitable and ambitious)
    • Commitment to, and understanding of Confidentiality, Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policies.
    • The postholder would need to undertake a DBS check.

Job Responsibilities

The Role:

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop skills and experience to further their career as a producer in the field of visual arts, through direct involvement in designing and delivering creative programmes and commissioning artists.

The Assistant Producer will work alongside the Creative Producer and colleagues to support the development of the curatorial approach, and the successful planning and delivery of a programme of creative engagement events and artist commissions for the design of the new NAU site. This includes an Artist in Residence programme, delivered in partnership with Project Artworks (www.projectartworks.org), with NAU services users and wider audiences at Bethlem Hospital and Gallery, and the commissioning of new works, co-produced with service users and staff.
