Seeking a skilled and versatile Assistant Ladies Cutter and Maker to to join our dynamic team. To cut and manufacture high-quality costumes for film TV and theatre productions, ensuring excellence in both construction and finish.

Join Our Team as an Assistant Cutter and Maker at Angels, the world's leading costume house.

We are seeking a skilled and versatile practitioner to join our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:

Costume cutting: Manufacture high-quality costumes for film TV and theater productions, ensuring excellence in both construction and finishing.

Fittings: Conduct fittings with actors both on-site and off-site, accurately marking alterations and translating them into precise patterns.

Collaboration: Work closely in the Ladies Making workroom with the Head of Department (Head Cutter) to meet deadlines, assisting the team across various departments including alterations, tailoring, and ladies wear.

Pattern Making: Draft, drape, and grade accurate patterns as needed, demonstrating an extensive knowledge of historical and specialized garments.

Versatility: Adapt to various tasks, including refurbishing costumes and working across multiple rooms to meet production needs.

Salary Range: £27,000 - £32,000

Job Requirements

Experience &Qualifications:

Proven experience in costume construction with proficiency in industrial machinery and exceptional hand-sewing skills.

Extensive knowledge of historical period garments and specialized costumes, with advanced skills in making and cutting to the highest standards.

Experience in drafting, draping, and cutting fabrics from patterns.

Familiarity with workroom machinery maintenance, both domestic and industrial.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work well under pressure, adapting to last-minute changes.

Criteria:

Knowledge and experience in jacket cutting and making.

A keen interest in further developing pattern drafting and cutting skills.

Ability to work independently within small ancillary teams as directed by the Head Cutter.
