Job Summary

The Assistant Producer will work closely with the Producers to deliver Birmingham Rep’s programme of produced and co-produced work, including community work, across our three theatre spaces.

Job Description

Contract Type: Permanent, standard.

Hours: 39 hours per week.

Salary: Up to £30,826.27 per annum (Officer 4)

Job Requirements

  • Relevant knowledge and at least two years' experience of programming and/or producing arts events

  • Knowledge of the UK arts scene

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both in person and remotely.

  • Experience in working across multiple workstreams at once, juggling competing priorities.

  • An ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds together with a commitment to diversity, accessibility and a genuine enthusiasm for working closely with our local communities

  • Excellent administrative skills, with an organised and methodical approach

  • Excellent IT skills

  • Numerate, including use of Excel

  • Meticulous with strong attention to detail

  • Robust negotiation skills

  • Calm under pressure

Job Responsibilities

  • To assist the Producers in the delivery of Rep Productions, including attendance to technical rehearsals, previews and performances (ie evening and weekend working).

  • To support the Producers in negotiating and agreeing Creative Team and Production staff appointments, leading on all Associate and non-lead deals (i.e. Voice/Fights/Puppetry) as standard.

  • To hold relationships with Creative Teams and Key Stakeholders on Rep Productions in order to deputise for the Producer where appropriate.

  • To lead on the delivery of Press Nights, including Main House Productions with Producing Assistant.

  • To lead on the creation and distribution of creative contracts.

  • To support the Producing Assistant with complex and/or international travel and accommodation requirements.

  • To be the principle point of contact for all received Rep co-productions, and to take the lead on delivering these at the Rep.
