James Steel Productions is looking for an experienced Assistant Stage Manager to come on board for an exciting new play making its London debut later this year. Salary(pro rata): £525.03/week during rehearsals £561.66/week during performances Hours: 6-day working weeks (Monday to Saturday); 8 shows per week Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract - Full Time Key dates are as follow: Start Date: 24th November 2025. Rehearsals 10th to 29th of November. Get-in: 1st December 2025 First Preview: 4th December 2025 Press Night: 9th December 2025 (tbc) Final Performance: 10th January 2026 This role involves standard ASM duties, including potential book cover. Ideal candidates will have strong organisational skills, confidence with prompt books, and the ability to work under pressure Core Responsibilities Assist with day-to-day rehearsal room duties, including set-up, props tracking, and general company support. Maintain and update the rehearsal notes, props lists, and other show documentation. Support the stage management team during technical rehearsals and performances. Be prepared to cover the book and call the show if needed. Collaborate closely with technical departments to ensure smooth rehearsals and performances. Skills Required Previous experience as an ASM in professional theatre. Familiarity with prompt books and calling conventions. Strong organisational and communication skills. Calm under pressure, with a flexible and proactive attitude. Desirable Skills: Prop/Costume sourcing, maintenance, or making skills. Experience with QLab.
