Immersive Octopus are recruiting an organised and enthusiastic Assistant Stage Manager to help bring alive two new family immersive adventures: "PumpkinVille" & "ChristmasVille", in the historic city of Portsmouth.


With dazzling projection, live performance, puppetry and music, this immersive adventure places the audience right at the heart of the story, for an experience that is playful, magical, and unforgettable.


The Stage Management team will be responsible for ensuring that these immersive theatrical events are rehearsed and run smoothly, caring for actors, props, puppets whilst upholding the highest of artistic and technical standards.

This role would be ideally suited to someone who is based within commuting distance to Portsmouth.

Rehearsals: Tues 4th Nov - Sun 9th Nov

Technical Rehearsals (on-site): Tues 11th Nov - Sat 15th Nov

Previews: Mon 17th Nov - Wed 19th Nov

Press: Tues 20th Nov

Show Run Fri 21st Nov 2025 - Sun 4th Jan 2026

Rehearsal Location: St Annes Settlement, 1 Vauxhall Grove, London SW8 1TD

Performance Location: Gunwharf Quays House, Portsmouth, PO1 3TZ

For the 1st 2 weeks of the run, show days are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only, with 4 days off between. We then switch to Tuesdays being the dark days for site (bar the Tuesday before Christmas).

Accommodation will be provided in Portsmouth throughout the engagement, but not for the London rehearsal week

Job Requirements

Experience of working as an assistant stage manager in immersive & site-specific
theatre.
Excellent communication, administration, time management and organisational skills.
Adaptability and problem-solving skills, whilst remaining calm under pressure, and
meeting deadlines.
Knowledge of Google Drive and Microsoft Office.

Job Responsibilities

Carry out the duties associated of the role, for a first-class production.
Support the Company Stage Manager in ensuring rehearsals are set up and run on time
and efficiently.
Assist by taking rehearsal notes, and liaising with the SM, distribute information to the
relevant departments.
Contribute to the recording and update blocking, cues, information and changes during
rehearsals.
Maintain a safe and professional working environment backstage.
Source, maintain, buy and replenish props as directed by the Company Stage Manager &
Designer.
Maintaining and updating the props list.
Creating a Props Bible.
Writing and maintaining up-to-date cue sheets for the ASM plot.
To execute a track including (but not limited to) preparation, placement and movement
of props & resetting spaces.
To comply with the Company House Rules, Risk Assessments & Policies.
