Working within the Operations Department and reporting into the Head of Visitor Experience and Exhibitions, the post holder will be responsible for understanding the current and future audiences of the Cathedral, to support sustainable growth as a working church and heritage visitor attraction.

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available for a part time Audience Analyst to join us at the Cathedral, on a two year fixed term contract, working 15 hours a week on a pro rata salary of £12,000 per annum (£30,000 FTE).

Working within the Operations Department and reporting into the Head of Visitor Experience and Exhibitions, the post holder will be responsible for understanding the current and future audiences of the Cathedral in order to support sustainable growth as a working church and heritage visitor attraction.

The Audience Analyst role can be undertaken remotely and attendance at regular meetings can be online although please note there will, on a small number of occasions, be a requirement to attend key occasional meetings in person with staff or audiences e.g. focus groups.

In addition, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills:

  • Essential - Commitment towards Safeguarding, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Essential- Empathy for the Cathedral's mission and values of Openness, Excellence and Kindness. It is not essential to be a practising Christian
  • Essential- Degree or similar qualification or experience relevant to the role
  • Essential - Strong skills in the interpretation of data and presentation of analysis
  • Essential - Current experience and knowledge of the British cultural sector
  • Essential - Excellent self-starter

Job Responsibilities

  • To demonstrate initiative in analysing all available sources of audience data, internal and external, to identify patterns or trends, and provide interpretation, understanding the context of the audiences.
  • To flag early warning risks around audiences, arising from analysis of the data and market research
  • To ensure any commissioned data meets the organisation's requirements
  • To fully understand, utilise and advise improvements in data collection from Spektrix
  • To collect relevant data from other sources, internal and external, to strengthen good decision-making by clergy designing major services, and operational colleagues' investment into planning the annual programme of activities
  • To recommend, design and evaluate surveys of the range of communities who come to the Cathedral - visitors, non-visitors, audiences, congregations, volunteers, school groups, etc
  • To work closely with the Cathedral Data Champion, coordinating work programmes to maximise impact for the organisation
