Bibliographic Data Controller - Maternity Cover

  • Full-time, maternity cover from October 2025
  • Salary: £28,000-29,000
  • Hybrid working potential, based in Central London
  • Closing date: 7 September 2025

Thames & Hudson is the leading global publisher of illustrated books on all aspects of human creativity, the visual arts, history and popular culture.

We are seeking a motivated individual to manage our bibliographic metadata across internal systems and external-facing platforms; checking data accuracy and completeness at key points in a title's lifecycle, handling corrections as required and communicating critical data changes to key stakeholders.

Job Requirements

  • Experience working at a publisher or with bibliographic data
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office & Excel, including the use of vlookups and pivot tables
  • Confident in manipulating large volumes of data accurately
  • Experience of bibliographic databases a plus

We're looking for:

  • A collaborative team player, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities, always maintaining attention to detail. You will be organised and consistently reliable, self-motivated but also able to work independently.
  • An individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee title setup, ISBN allocation, data accuracy, and lifecycle updates.
  • Ensure accurate metadata distribution via ONIX with the Distributed Publisher Data Executive.Manage customer group/account data for sales reporting.
  • Maintain rights, permissions, and closed market data per team instructions.Uphold data entry standards, processes, and provide staff training.
  • Manage initial and ongoing ONIX metadata releases, including CoreSource and website updates.
  • Coordinate weekly dues releases and support quarterly title launches.
  • Issue seasonal lists/schedules, review catalogues, and generate barcodes.
  • Manage Edelweiss assets and assist in creating catalogues and sales tools.
  • Serve as first contact for data issues; escalate bugs to IT.
  • Support bibliographic system development and testing activities.
