Job Description

The Retail Assistant will join the gallery's onsite bookshop team. This position requires an individual with a passion for customer service and for books. As a primary point of contact for visitors experiencing the gallery's flagship location, the individual should thrive when engaging with customers and advising on books and enjoy the overall environment of an exhibition space. Reporting to the Bookshop Supervisor, the Retail Assistant will support the day-to-day management of both the onsite bookshop and the gallery's online retail operations. As part of the bookshop team, they will share the responsibility for providing visitors with an exceptional retail experience: An environment where visitors can inter react with staff who are approachable, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the gallery and its artists.

Qualifications, skills and expertise:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Thrives on customer engagement and demonstrates a customer-oriented approach to bookselling.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards and creating memorable visitor experiences.
- Passion for delivering outstanding service to customers in line with the White Cube brand.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible and willing to assist with occasional out-of-hours events.
- Interest and knowledge for art and books is desired.

Job Responsibilities

Customer service:
- Deliver outstanding customer service on the shop floor, greeting visitors, assisting with enquiries and encouraging a dialogue to boost bookshops sales.
- Provide information and guidance on the books and prints and multiples on offer whilst proactively engaging with customers to promote new White Cube publications and merchandise.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current exhibitions and the wider gallery programme to address any customer queries.
Accurately process on site sales transactions and internal gifting using the POS system.
- Respond promptly to enquiries via telephone and email, monitoring the bookshop @whitecube.com inbox regularly and directing enquiries to third parties when appropriate.
- Manage delivery-related enquiries, liaising with couriers and informing customers accordingly.
