Job Requirements
A relevant music degree, ideally gained at a music conservatoire (or similar). French horn specialism would be a plus
A passion for pedagogy, with an ability to inspire the students
Experience of teaching children age 5+ and adults alike
Ability to teach from beginner to diploma level
Strong track record in preparing students for grade exams (ABRSM/Trinity)
Good professional performing experience
Energetic, punctual, organised, and able to work as part of a team
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience in the Kodaly approach, or willingness to learn in order to incorporate some elements in your teaching
Relevant safeguarding trainingJob Responsibilities
2.5 hours of teaching 1-to-1 brass lessons (French horn, trombone, euphonium only)
30 minutes of teaching Prelude brass students (instrument discovery course for beginners)
Lessons take place on Saturdays between 11.30am and 3pm.
Saturdays, during term time only, until 5th July 2025. Term dates available on our website.
Self-employed position (34 weeks service contract, renewable).
Please note before applying: continuity of teaching at the school is valued and candidates should ideally be available every Saturday during term-time (please refer to dates on our website).
Enhanced DBS (Criminal Record check) is compulsory.
The rate for 1-1 lessons is £42.25/hour
The rate for Prelude lessons is £43.25/hour
