Job Summary

Bubble Club is a learning disability arts programme which produces accessible club nights in East London. The Bub Hub manager leads art and discussion workshops throughout the year for learning disabled members of our community to create plans and decor for the immersive live music events.

Job Description

Bubble Club events are high energy nightclub experiences for learning disabled adults in East London. These epic events take place 6 times per year and are attended by 200-300 people. There is live music, DJ's, chill out room, open mic stage, activities and imaginative d cor. The events are immersive experiences which are devised and created by the Bub Hub. The Bub Hub is a group of 12 learning disabled adults who meet each week to plan and produce the event productions. They are supported to brainstorm ideas, to develop narratives and create art projects and decor to bring those ideas to life at the events. The Bub Hub manager is leader of this programme and is responsible for planning and delivering the workshops to make it all possible.

The main objectives for the role are:

  • To enable Bubble Club to embody and reflect the artistic vision of the learning disabled people who it represents.
  • To create fantastic and imaginative artwork and decor for Bubble Club events to be colourful and immersive. (and potentially dynamic and challenging at times)
  • To support Bub Hub members to be safe and supported in accessing the workshop programme.
  • To enable Bub Hub members to express themselves freely and to enjoy themselves.
  • To maintain and promote the important values and public image of Bubble Club and the people it represents. Creative, Inclusive, Professional, Adult and Revolutionary.


Job Details:

  • Salary: £30,000 Pro Rata 0.2 FTE (£6,000 per annum)
  • Hours: Part time - 8 hours per week. Most of this work will take place on Fridays but availability for occasional Wednesday events is an essential requirement.
  • Contract: 6 month trial period with potential to become permanent.

Job Requirements

Person Specification

  • Experience teaching or facilitating workshops.
  • A passion for supporting marginalised and excluded artists or people to develop creatively and professionally.
  • Strong creating, making and artistic skills. Emphasis on DIY craft and improvising on the fly. The group will have lots of ideas, your ability is to turn the ideas into impressive but realistic projects plans that are accessible and inexpensive will be key. We have produced a lot of art projects with cardboard painted structures over the years, but we open to all types of creativity and if you have other methods to channel the group's creative vision, all artforms are welcome!
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to communicate with both colleagues as well as with participants who have communication difficulties in an encouraging and clear way that is lateral and respectful.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Facilitate Coproduction Workshops - Supporting members of the Bub Hub to create Bubble Club events, to develop ideas, to co-design art productions to exhibit and decorate events.
  2. Workshops planning, logistics, monitoring and record keeping - Bub Hub manager is responsible for all aspects of the Bub Hub programme including session plans, inducting new participants, admin and sourcing materials.
  3. Manage Volunteers - Bubble Club are blessed with a strong backbone of volunteers who support our work. It is your responsibility to manage these volunteers. Enrolling and inducting new volunteers, scheduling them in to support your workshops etc.
  4. Supporting Events - Events are on Wednesdays, 6 times per year. You will be responsible for setting up and installation of all d cor and art projects, with support of volunteers and Bub Hub group members. During the event, you will support the event producer with managing the event with particular emphasis safeguarding.
