Building & Sustainability Manager, South East Dance

Building Operations and Maintenance

• Ensure The Dance Space is clean and operates smoothly.
• Align operations with South East Dance's Environmental Responsibility policy.
• Manage daily, cyclical, and long-term maintenance of premises, services, and equipment.
• Oversee activities, ensuring compliance and customer care.
• Manage budgets and essential services like security, cleaning, and utilities.
• Maintain systems and equipment, arranging repairs as needed.
• Liaise with Savills on estate-wide issues, including public spaces and waste.
• Attend Operations Team meetings and manage two Visitor & Events Support staff.

Health & Safety and Compliance

• Lead compliance with Health & Safety, fire regulations, and licensing.
• Collaborate with the Head of Production on theatre equipment procurement and use.
• Update Health & Safety protocols to reflect activity needs.
• Train staff, tenants, and users on safety, security, and building procedures.
• Ensure compliance with the lease from Brighton & Hove City Council.
• Manage fire safety, including risk assessments, evacuation plans, and drills.
• Prepare risk assessments for building activities and equipment use.

Procurement

• Procure utilities, equipment, and services at competitive rates.
• Supervise contractors for cleaning, maintenance, and inspections.

Environmental Responsibility

• Monitor and reduce energy use, managing PV, AHU, and HVAC systems.
• Co-lead environmental work and attend Green Team meetings.
• Align procurement with sustainability goals.
• Gather data to track and improve environmental performance.
• Support annual reporting and communicate sustainability progress.

General Duties

• Comply with South East Dance policies on Equality, Safeguarding, Environment, and Health & Safety.
• Promote South East Dance's values and participate in training and appraisals.
• Attend relevant meetings and conferences.
• Provide Welcome Desk cover and duty management as needed.
• Act as a key holder, ensuring building security.
