This important role manages the day-to-day operations of the National Centre's building and facilities, ensuring the site is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose for all students, staff, visitors, and tenants. Acting as a key point of contact for building operations, the post holder oversees maintenance, service contracts, fire safety, incident reporting, and building readiness, supporting the Head of Operations in delivering effective health & safety procedures across a busy multi-use venue. They line-manage the Programme and Facilities Coordinators, ensuring strong front-of-house coordination, rota planning, and excellent customer service. The role manages building access systems, provides basic IT onboarding and support, and oversees purchasing for repairs, maintenance, and supplies. They act as Duty Manager for regular evening shifts and occasional weekends, serving as a key holder and out-of-hours contact as required. The Buildings Manager also supports events and productions, liaises with contractors and tenants, and promotes environmental sustainability, inclusion and positive organisational culture across the Centre. Experience Experience in operations or facilities management. Experience managing staff and creating rotas. Experience in a customer-facing environment. Experience administering budgets. Understanding of relevant health & safety legislation. Strong administrative and organisational skills. Practical, hands-on approach. Skills Good organisational and communication skills. Working knowledge of IT, including email, Windows and Microsoft Office. Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively. Knowledge of ticketing, CRM or payment systems is desirable. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across teams. Oversee maintenance, compliance checks, inspections and fire safety. Administer building and maintenance budgets and purchasing. Manage building access systems and provide basic IT support. Line manage Programme and Facilities Coordinators, including recruitment, induction, training and rotas. Act as Duty Manager for evening and occasional weekend shifts. Support events, hires and productions, including front-of-house planning.
