Nesta is offering a unique opportunity for an experienced visual artist who works with and is inspired by data to join our team as a resident to create aesthetically engaging work that relates to our three missions. The ideal resident would combine artistic sensibility with an interest in systems thinking and social change. The residency will take place over a 3-4 month period. This would include time with the team in person on a regular basis (eg, weekly or fortnightly) in our London office and regular touchpoints online (but we are open to other arrangements to cater for individual circumstances). We also expect dedicated studio time will be required. Reimbursement will be offered to those based outside of London to cover reasonable expenses of travel to meetings or workshops held in London. The residency fee also includes a contribution to materials for the generation of artworks. The artist in residence will be someone who is excited by the opportunity to take complex data sets from Nesta's three missions and explore them through a creative process to create engaging, thought-provoking and visually impactful work. As a charitable foundation, Nesta has more freedom to take risks, think long-term and to choose what we work on than many other organisations. This residency will offer an opportunity to think about how art and data can be combined to generate social value and encourage curiosity and engagement with the information and ideas that drive our work both internally and externally.Job Summary
