Description

Job Summary

KIT Theatre is looking for Stage Managers, in particular those with facilitation skills, who can support the rehearsal and delivery of our Adventures in Learning across London, Essex and the rest of England. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone with links to Thurrock.

Job Description

KIT stage managers are enthusiastic, friendly and diligent people, who are good at problem solving and adapting to the needs of a situation. All of our projects require SM's who are confident communicators with good organisational and management skills.

Most of our adventures take place in schools with simple tech requirements, but may have complicated schedules and involve some facilitation. A KIT SM could be a professor's assistant, overseeing yr 3's use of a time machine, or an alien translator, ensuring that an extra terrestrial visitor who can speak English gets safely around a school for different workshops and isn't spotted having a sandwich in the staff room at lunch. These adventures would suit SM's who feel confident working with young people but would also work for actors/facilitators who have experience of producing or ASM work.

Some of our SM roles are more technical, as we have several adventures that involve finales in theatres or use complex sets and props. An SM could be leading the set up of a space whilst liaising with an in-house tech crew, or calling a show for a play that young people had created in just a day. For these roles we look for SM's who are confident in setting up and running sound/lighting tech and working with programs such as Qlab.

Our work is playful and often outside-the-box, so we recognise that applicants who don't have "traditional" experience may be perfect for the role. If you feel that you could fit into either of the descriptions above, we would love to hear from you.
