The CEO & Artistic Director will lead Humber Street Gallery into its next chapter, driving, shaping and delivering a compelling artistic vision while ensuring the organisation's financial sustainability and strategic growth.

This post is fixed term (2 years) 29.6 hours over 4 days per week Monday - Friday with a salary of ÂŁ51,500 per annum pro rata

Responsibilities:

Artistic Leadership

  • Support the team and lead on developing and delivering a bold, inclusive, and relevant artistic program that is relevant and engages diverse audiences.
  • Champion artistic excellence and innovation across exhibitions, commissions, residencies, and public programmes.
  • Nurture relationships with artists, curators, and cultural producers locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Continue to build on the positive reputation of Humber Street Gallery.

Strategic and Executive Leadership

Lead the organisation's strategic planning, governance, and operational management.

  • Drive income generation through fundraising, sponsorship, commercial activity, and public funding.
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting to ensure long-term sustainability.
  • Represent the gallery within regional and national networks, advocating for the visual arts and Hull's cultural sector.
  • Lead strategic planning, governance, and operational management.
  • Lead Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Operational and Organisational Expertise
  • Conduct a skills audit and review team roles.
  • Oversee health and safety, safeguarding, and HR responsibilities.
  • Strengthen internal communications and team cohesion.
  • Reinforce brand identity and public visibility.
  • Continue the work on change management and develop the vision of the organisation.

Job Responsibilities

Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including funders, local authorities, community groups, and cultural partners.
  • Collaborate with the wider Hull and East Yorkshire cultural ecosystem, contributing to strategic initiatives and cross-sector partnerships.
  • Ensure the gallery is a welcoming, inclusive space for all communities
  • Support audience growth using data and consultation to inform plans
