Job Summary

We are seeking to recruit a new Chief Executive Officer, to replace Peter Smalley, who is stepping down from his role after 13 years as CEO: Starting date from September 2025, or as soon after as possible, handover and induction period to be agreed by negotiation.

Job Description

This role combines the responsibilities of Chief Executive of the Trust, Business Manager of the Charity, Head of the Music Service, and Chief Operating Officer of the Music Hub.

The post holder will be an outstanding leader with knowledge and experience of education management and music education, used to managing and leading teams of people, and driving initiatives and improvements. They will have knowledge and understanding of Music Hubs and their pivotal role in supporting music education.

Additionally, the post holder will have the opportunity to retain an element of personal delivery as an educator: instrumental or vocal teaching, work with County Ensembles, Saturday Music Centres, and through the rich and varied work of the Northamptonshire and Rutland Music Hub.

Start date: The post will commence from the beginning of the Autumn term 2025, with the possibility of an induction and handover period, to be discussed after appointment.

Salary: The appointment attracts a FTE salary in the range £75,000 - £85,000. Also included are membership of an auto enrolled pension scheme, and a private health cash plan. The post is subject to satisfactory clearance by the Disclosure and Barring Service.
