Job Summary

We are seeking a warm, knowledgeable and experienced Chief Executive Officer. Alongside overseeing operational management, you will be leading and growing the organisation’s team of staff and freelancers, driving development and fundraising, and delivering on our strategic vision.

About the Role

Working pattern: Flexible, 4 days (30 hrs) per week
Salary: 35 - 40k pro-rata
Location: Hybrid, with some time spent in the office within The Old Courts, Wigan
We generally spend over half of our time together in the office.
Reports to: Board
Benefits: NEST pension scheme, 33 days holiday(pro-rata) plus bank holiday hours.
Notice period: 6 weeks
Access: We are positive about disability, and making adjustments needed to welcome disabled applicants. Our current office and community room are wheelchair accessible. Our store and independent keyholder arrangements are not yet wheelchair accessible. We are working to address this.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading and managing our small staff team of 2 part time employees, approx. 5 freelancers and 10 volunteers
  • Operational and financial management, including delivery of strategic vision
  • Leading appraisal of current premises and facilities needs

Job Requirements

Essential

  • Leadership in a strategic role, in the cultural sector
  • Managing organisational budgets, accounts and grant funding
  • Knowledge of key principles in employment law, HR, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Safeguarding, Health and Safety
  • Developing and implementing policy
  • Working for a Board, understanding of governance principles
  • Strong track record in securing funds and reporting to funders
  • Understanding of current funding landscape
  • Managing happy, effective teams - commitment to workplace inclusivity
