Barts Heritage is seeking an exceptional Commercial Director to lead the operational and commercial development of the newly restored North Wing at St Bartholomew's Hospital. This pivotal role oversees the smooth running of the building, integrating visitor services with a growing portfolio of events, venue hire, weddings, filming and partnership activity.
You will drive the commercial performance of Barts Heritage Trading Ltd, lead client and sales relationships, manage key partnerships (including caterers and NHS stakeholders), and shape our marketing and commercial strategy. With line management responsibility across events, sales, marketing, duty management and volunteers, you will ensure a high quality, financially sustainable offer in one of London's most remarkable historic buildings.

Job Requirements

Person Specification
Proven track record of developing a successful commercial venue operation (ideally within the heritage and / or cultural sectors).
Strong relationship building skills with stakeholders, partners and clients.
Strategic experience of generating and evaluating income streams.
Financial planning and management experience.
Facilities Management experience for public facing sites including GDPR, Health & Safety,
safeguarding, risk assessments, food safety.
Experience in contract negotiation and management.
Experience motivating and leading staff and volunteers.
Desirable
Experience working in a heritage site, museum, cultural venue or visitor attraction.
Enthusiasm for and knowledge of heritage, architecture, history, science or wellbeing.

Job Responsibilities

Work with the CEO on joint initiatives including retail, fundraising and partnership development.
Contribute to grant applications, sector networking and organisational advocacy.
Lead on the development & delivery of all commercial activity across the North Wing's historic spaces.
Produce commercial reports for the BHTL directors, including KPIs, forecasts and performance analysis - ensuring robust systems are in place.
Ensure that the building is fit for purpose, that it functions safely, is fully compliant with health and safety and fire regulations and that there is a programme of maintenance and repair.
Establish robust reporting, evaluation and forecasting processes for commercial performance.
High level management of internal and external stakeholders.
Lead the marketing strategy for commercial activity, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
