We are looking for a communications and marketing specialist or agency to work with us to tell our ambitious Reunited capital project story, raise public and funder interest, and better understand our audiences. Contract type: Freelance contract 4 months Fee: circa £9000 (excluding VAT)

Job Description

With the support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the Portico is developing plans to help deliver its Reunited vision to be one of the UK's most accessible, sustainable, and dynamic historic libraries. One of the key plans is the creation of an engaging, informative and inclusive communications and marketing strategy that will generate support for the Reunited project during the Delivery Phase of the project. We need a communications and marketing specialist to work with us during the Development Phase to create this strategy so that we can tell our ambitious story, raise public and funder interest, and better understand our audiences.

Job Requirements

We are looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated consultant who has the experience of producing and delivering successful marketing and communication strategies, ideally in the heritage sector and shares our vision and values. Things we are looking for:

Experience in developing marketing and communication and marketing strategies and campaigns

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

A keen interest in the heritage and culture industry

Good knowledge and experience working with social media, paid and organic

Understanding of how to build heritage brands

Good connections to local and national press

Excellent copywriting and editing skills for varied media

Job Responsibilities

The core deliverables are:

Taking the target groups identified in the Business and Activity plans and establishing market size and potential

Understanding key motivations to use the Reunited Portico

Understanding best channels to reach those groups

Identify key milestones to develop messaging

Develop overarching messaging/guidelines in communicating the project, articulating the vision from a user perspective

Develop messaging framework which pulls out the specific messages needed to engage specific audiences

Develop a creative brief for the visual identity of the Reunited campaign to be delivered

Create a marketing strategy including social media, mailing lists, website management, etc

Engaging and supporting Portico staff and Reunited team in how they can deliver this work through both established and new channels

Establish a consistent, compelling and equitable tone guidelines that reflects tone of voice guidelines

Provide guidance on future resourcing of marketing activity
