Job Summary

FMcM, the books PR agency, is seeking an ambitious, creative, and versatile Communications Manager / Senior Communications Manager to work with our team on stand-out publicity and marketing campaigns for books and projects, taking a leading role in the delivery. Salary: £35,000-£45,000.

Job Description

Campaign implementation:

Create and implement multi-platform PR campaigns across your client list, working both independently and as part of a team

Create and edit impactful communications, including press releases and bespoke pitches, across your client portfolio

Demonstrate effective client management, including meeting preparation, regular reporting, and campaign evaluation

Organise and attend book launches and other events, show a clear aptitude for planning, coordinating, and delivering events, with strong organisational skills and attention to detail to ensure successful outcomes.

Support the delivery of large-scale events by managing guest lists, hosting press and talent, coordinating interviews, and distributing press materials

Work directly with clients and authors to arrange schedules, provide briefings and escort them to events and media commitments, always upholding a high standard of author care

Continue to develop and maintain a strong network of media contacts and strategic partners, proactively seeking new relationships to support the agency's work across a range of clients

Communicate any challenges or concerns in a timely manner, seeking guidance from project and line managers to effectively pre-empt or manage obstacles

Job Requirements

5+ years' experience in a related books or arts PR role

Strong awareness of the current media landscape and UK literary scene

Excellent network of media contacts

Demonstrable experience of delivering creative book campaigns

Ability to prioritise and juggle competing demands with good time management skills

Proven copywriting skills, from press releases to social media content

Excellent Microsoft Office skills Word, PowerPoint and Excel and experience using InDesign and Photoshop

Strong social media acumen with a working knowledge of the wider digital marketing landscape within book publishing or the wider arts scene

An up-to-date knowledge of current issues and public opinion in the media to inform communications campaigns

Professional, proactive, and organised

Team player with a positive attitude

Excellent communication skills in person and in writing

Curiosity in a range of genres and ability to work on a wide variety of projects

Job Responsibilities

Corporate Responsibilities:

Demonstrate leadership capability, setting direction, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing working environment.

Identify and build relationships with potential new clients from your own sphere of influence, and contribute to new business proposal documents and presentations

Support junior staff to deliver stand-out campaigns

Adhere to FMcM internal protocol, contributing to the smooth running of the business

Promote FMcM, acting as a representative and advocate of the company, and contribute to the company's digital presence with creative content across social media and the website
