Kettle's Yard House and Gallery is looking for a creative and passionate individual for the temporary role of Communications Manager. This is an exciting time to join the team as in 2027 Kettle's Yard will celebrate its 70th anniversary. Deadline for applications: 12 July, 5pm.

Job Description

The successful applicant will be highly organised and strategic, with experience managing multiple marketing campaigns, competing deadlines and forward planning. A creative individual with excellent communication skills, the role holder will have an eye for design, and be able to work with multiple stakeholders including designers, photographers, staff members and press.

The Communications Manager is expected to oversee the ongoing development of the Kettle's Yard's Communications Plan, including:
Marketing Kettle's Yard activities encompassing exhibitions, music, learning and the unique collection using appropriate communications channels.
Maintaining and growing the profile and reputation of Kettle's Yard through media relations and effective marketing strategies encompassing digital and traditional communication channels.
Reaching new and current audiences by using the appropriate PR and communications tactics.

The role provides temporary cover for maternity leave with cover expected to be required for 10-12 months, or the return of the post holder, whichever is earliest.

Job Requirements

Experience using wordpress (or similar) and e-marketing software.
Experience of creating communications campaigns in the cultural
sector to budget, and measuring their success
Experience or demonstrable knowledge of design for marketing purposes using tools such as InDesign
Line Management experience.
Experience of working with external agencies/designers.
Experience of media relations in the cultural sector
Excellent computer skills and demonstrable ability to learn new software systems as required
Confident using current social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
Interest in the visual arts
Experience managing stakeholder relationships and handling multiple
views diplomatically.
Experience in filmmaking and editing.
Educated to degree level/ Level 6 vocational qualification or equivalent level of practical experience
Personable and polite, able to be the face of Kettle's Yard when required

Job Responsibilities

Implement key processes to support the Digital Strategy for Kettle's Yard - including managing the Digital Communications Assistant to develop the social media and e- marketing strategy, overseeing the social media content across various platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, and support colleagues with social media content. Respond to new trends as appropriate.
Set KPIs and targets and provide reports and feedback to measure the success of ongoing projects, such as the website, exhibitions and the 2027 70th anniversary campaign.

Design in-house print material following agreed design guidelines, and support colleagues in their use of Indesign software, ensuring appropriate use of brand guidelines.
Media buying and budget management: oversee and report on marketing budgets for projects including print, digital, social media, advertising and press. Research local and national advertising opportunities.
